Imogen is tall for a student and very skinny. In her opinion, she looks like a gangly giraffe. Her hair is a mousy brown that constantly falls into her gray eyes despite her glasses (which she frequently forgoes). She has sharp cheekbones and jaw, and her lips are pouty and fixed in a permanent frown.

Both of her parents were Death Eaters in the first wizarding war. Her father, Cygnus, was killed by members of the Order of the Phoenix two months before the Dark Lord’s defeat, and Imogen blames Professor Dumbledore, as the Order’s leader, for her father’s death. Unbeknownst to her, it was Professor Snape’s intel that led the Order to the Death Eaters that night.Imogen’s mother was arrested by Alastor Moody shortly after the Dark Lord’s defeat. However, almost all the evidence the Aurors had on Lucretia was either circumstantial or relied on her having known what her husband was doing, which she flatly denied. She was ultimately acquitted, though the Auror Office has kept a close eye on her ever since.Following the trial, Lucretia withdrew from society, isolating herself and Imogen inside Selwyn Manor. For the next few years before she left for Hogwarts, Imogen’s only link to the outside world was the Daily Prophet, and her only human contact—save her mother—was with their house elf, Witton.

Personality and Skills

Imogen is skilled in Transfiguration and fascinated by both the Dark Arts and spell invention. She is… less skilled in Potions, much to the dismay and disappointment of her mother, a talented potioneer.Going into Hogwarts, her political loyalties lie firmly with her parents, but she knows the dangers of expressing any pro-Voldemort sympathies—especially so soon after the war's end—and she keeps a tight lid on that sort of talk at Hogwarts.She’s just a kid parroting her parents’ views. She’s scared and hurt and lonely and too young to really understand that what her parents believe—and what she grew up believing—is wrong. All she knows is her dad is dead, and she wants the people who killed him to know exactly the kind of pain that caused her. With some luck and compassion, she’ll grow to be more accepting of others and more confident in herself.

Pre-Hogwarts

For almost nine years, Imogen lives the idyllic life of a wealthy pure-blood. She plays with other pure-blood children her age and rarely catches glimpses into her parents’ secret lives as Death Eaters on the front-lines of a Wizarding War. All that changes one night when her father is late home from work and Lucius Malfoy knocks on the door to Selwyn Manor with news that something called the Order of the Phoenix had killed him. Imogen feels like she’s drowning on dry land.Barely two months later, the Dark Lord is defeated and the Auror Alastor Moody arrests Imogen’s mother on suspicion of being a Death Eater. She is ultimately acquitted, but her time spent in Askaban leaves a permanent scar on the family. Imogen’s mother withdraws from society, and for the next couple years the only contact Imogen has with the outside world is through the Daily Prophet.

Years One and Two

After years of isolation, Imogen is thrown headfirst back into the Wizarding World with little to prepare her for the bustle and drama of Hogwarts. After a bitterly disappointing first few days, wherein the Sorting Hat places her in the wrong House (Ravenclaw) and she discovers her ineptitude in her mother’s favorite subject (Potions), she sets into motion a plan to uncover precisely what happened the night her father was killed, starting by messaging the man who broke the news to her mother. Where this plan will take her is anyone’s guess.

Years Three - Five

Imogen signs up for Arithmancy and Ancient Runes specifically for their applications in inventing spells. With the help of her classes, copious time spent in the library, and her mother’s books on the Dark Arts, she creates the spell Mergospira, a nasty curse which conjures water directly into the target’s lungs. She wants her father’s killer to know exactly how she feels when she thinks of her childhood. She wants to kill him.At the end of her fifth year, she finally tracks him down. He's at her mercy... and she finds she can't go through with murder.

Years Six and Seven

Up until now, Imogen has resisted the overwhelming evidence from five years at Hogwarts that her family's beliefs are wrong, but when she confronts her father's killer, it's like a dam breaks. Suddenly, she's able to embrace the shift in her morality. Though she struggles with it at times, she no longer upholds her family’s ideals of blood-purity and wizarding superiority. She starts looking out for the other Death Eaters' relatives at Hogwarts and quietly tries to nudge them onto the right path.Then, during the summer after her sixth year, she frees her family’s house-elf, Witton, against her mother’s wishes, and her mother kicks her out of the house for good. She's never had to fend for herself before. Not like this.

Post-Hogwarts

Four years after Imogen graduates, she’s established herself as a professional spell inventor. All appears to be well… until the Dark Lord returns. With the Ministry pretending the threat isn’t real, she knows Dumbledore is the only chance they have of stopping the Dark Lord for good this time. She drops everything to hunt down her old enemy and demand to be inducted into the Order of the Phoenix. He allows it, and from there she gradually settles into her role as handler for many of the Order’s spies and, eventually becoming their spymaster after Dumbledore’s death.

BIRTH: Lucretia Rosier is born. She will eventually be the eldest of four children.

BIRTH: Cygnus Selwyn is born. He will eventually be the elder of two boys.

1962

MARRIAGE: Cygnus Selwyn and Lucretia Rosier are married.

1970

WAR BEGINS: The First Wizarding War officially begins when Voldemort declares himself openly. Cygnus Selwyn joins the Death Eaters and is soon branded with a Dark Mark.

1971

ORDER OF THE PHOENIX FORMS: Albus Dumbledore creates the Order of the Phoenix in response to Voldemort's growing threat and the Ministry's ineptitude.

1972 - Nov 13

BIRTH: Imogen Adela Morwen Eumelia Selwyn is born.

1980

PROPHECY: Trelawney prophesizes Voldemort's defeat to Dumbledore, partially overheard by Severus Snape. Snape becomes a double agent for Dumbledore.

1981 - Aug 29

DEATH: Cygnus Selwyn and several other Death Eaters are sent to kill Neville Longbottom in accordance with the prophecy, but Snape's intel leads the Order to intercept them. Cygnus is killed by Remus Lupin.

Sept 3

FUNERAL: A funeral is held for Cygnus Selwyn. Evan Rosier moves into Selwyn Manor to help support his sister Lucretia.

Oct 31

WAR ENDS: The First Wizarding War ends when Voldemort attempts to kill Harry Potter and his curse rebounds, apparently killing himself.

Nov 5

DEATH: Evan Rosier, who had left Selwyn Manor to investigate Voldemort's apparent death, is killed resisting arrest by Alastor Moody.

Nov 6

ARREST: Alastor Moody arrests Lucretia Selwyn on suspicion of being a Death Eater like her husband. While she awaits trial in Azkaban, Imogen is sent to live with her aunt and uncle, Hortensia and Emerson Nott. She takes to stealing newspapers to learn what is happening in the outside world.

Nov - mid

HEART ATTACK: Imogen's Grandfather Rosier, one of Voldemort's original Death Eaters, suffers a heart attack when he learns of Lucretia's arrest on top of his youngest child's (Evan's) death and Voldemort's defeat.

ARREST: Severus Snape is brought in for questioning by Aurors but released less than a week later following testimony by Dumbledore. Imogen reads this in a Daily Prophet article.

1982 - Feb

TRIAL: Lucretia is acquitted because the Aurors can't find enough evidence to prove she knew about Cygnus' crimes. She and Imogen return to Selwyn Manor and retreat almost entirely from society.

1983 - Jan

DEATH: Imogen's grandfather never fully recovers from his first heart attack in 1981, and he dies from a second a little over a year later.

1984 - Sept 1

START OF SCHOOL: Imogen begins her first year at Hogwarts and is sorted into Ravenclaw despite efforts to convince the Sorting Hat that she belongs in Slytherin.

Sept 2

WIZARD'S DUEL: Imogen accepts a challenge to a duel from Merula Snyde. Skyler Benson volunteers as Imogen's second.

Early Sept

INITIAL CORRESPONDENCE: Imogen sends Lucius Malfoy the first of many letters asking him for the details of her father's death.

Mid Fall

QUESTIONS: On prompting from Lucius Malfoy, Imogen directs her questions regarding Cygnus' death toward Severus Snape, who denies all knowledge. Imogen continues to pry.

Early Winter

SECRET PASSAGEWAYS: Malfoy finally agrees to meet Imogen to discuss things shortly before Christmas break. Imogen spends the months leading up to it searching for a way to leave the castle undetected. Merula tries to get her in trouble for sneaking around.

Mid December

HOGSMEADE MEETING: Imogen meets Malfoy in Hogsmeade and learns the names of the people there the night Cygnus died, including Alastor Moody and Remus Lupin.

Appearance

Skyler is lean and muscular with broad shoulders. Her skin is naturally very pale, but all her time in the sun has given her a permanent, heavy tan and freckles all over her body. She has thick blonde hair which she keeps just-past-shoulder-length and messy.

History

Skyler's mother was a young Muggle who met a charming - albeit eccentric - owl trainer by chance. They hit it off and quickly entered into a whirlwind romance. Three months into their relationship, Billie realized she was pregnant, but before she could work up the courage to tell Elbert, she found out he was already married. Elbert tried to salvage things, claiming it was a loveless marriage, but Billie refused to be anyone's sidepiece and cut him out of her life entirely.Billie raised Skyler on her own, and on the whole, though they struggled financially from time to time, they were a happy, normal little family. Then came Skyler’s eleventh birthday, when Professor Sprout arrived on their doorstep to deliver her admittance letter to Hogwarts and reveal the Wizarding World.At first, Skyler was ecstatic to learn magic at Hogwarts... until she realized the Wizarding World would always look down on her for growing up a Muggle, and her House, Slytherin, was full of wizards who thought that way. Things only started looking up when she discovered Quidditch – like football, but she could fly! – and found her calling. She joined the Slytherin team the next year, and she quickly found newfound respect in her House as their new star Chaser.By the start of her fourth year, Skyler felt confident there was nothing the Wizarding World could throw at her that she couldn't handle. She wasn't counting on a girl named Lenore showing up to the Sorting Ceremony with her father's last name.She had a sister.Their relationship got off to a rocky start, but Skyler was determined to make things work. Finally, after a full year, the Leverettes agreed to dinner with the Bensons. Things were awkward at first, but it still went well, and both families eventually welcomed the other into their lives.That year, Skyler was made Quidditch Captain. By the time she was ready to graduate, she was being headhunted by professional teams. She ultimately signed onto the Tutshill Tornadoes and won multiple League Cups as their Chaser.

Personality and Skills

Skyler is aggressive and intense, which can be initially off-putting or intimidating to some. However, all her aggression is really just enthusiasm for life, and it takes a lot to drive her to actual violence.Academically, she does alright, excelling at the more physical aspects of spellwork while struggling with intellectual subjects such as History of Magic. With enough studying, she keeps her grades at Acceptable or Exceeds Expectations.Schoolwork is not her primary focus at Hogwarts, however. Even from an early age, Skyler has always been fiercely competitive, and nowhere does that show itself more clearly than in sports. As a little girl growing up in the Muggle world, her favorite activities were swimming and football (soccer), but the moment she learned about Quidditch, her loyalties changed. She left her first House match determined to make the Slytherin team the next year. Her Quidditch ambitions only grew loftier as she aged and improved. Her life goal is to play for England in the World Cup.As a captain, she's even more intense than as just a player, but she abhors cheaters. Any Slytherin player caught intentionally violating the rules is kicked off her team without exception.
